A little information about me, previous employment, technical skills, and education.

Jose Centeno

Since a very young age, I have felt a passion for arts and music. My career as an artist started at Central High School of Visual Arts in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where I specialized in sculpting on various mediums. After I graduated from high school, I coursed studies in fine arts, photography and communications at the University of Puerto Rico. Being a musician gave me the opportunity to develop my skills as a graphic designer by creating flyers and websites for the bands I used to play with. After obtaining a BA in Communications, I decided to expand my knowledge on web development and moved to Florida to course studies at The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale.

During my career as a professional web designer and developer, I have worked on several freelance projects and as a consultant for various companies, including advertising agencies, marketing firms and nonprofit organizations.

Collaborated with product managers from the Health and Education verticals on the planning, design and implementation of new features and bug fixes for the products Hospital Data Insights (HDI), Academic Insights (AI), and Best Hospitals Dashboard.
Created various interactive data visualizations using the D3 library to showcase over 20 years of historical data from hospitals in the United States.
Spearheaded the migration of HDI from legacy frameworks to React and NextJS using modern JavaScript standards, and built a library of UI components to be shared between the HDI and AI products.
